Read for the Record

Read for the Record, presented by Jumpstart and the Pearson Foundation, takes place each fall. Its annual goal is to break the world record for the number of people reading the same book on the same day. The official 2010 Read for the Record book is The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats, which will be read to children around the world on October 7.

Want your students to help break a world record? Visit www.readfortherecord.org and sign the pledge to read. There, you'll find more information about how to conduct a Read for the Record event in your school or community.

Millions of students start kindergarten every year without the skills they need to succeed. Let your chapter be part of the solution and raise awareness about the importance of early childhood education—plan now to participate in Read for the Record and break the 2009 record of 2,019,752.
